This workshop will teach you the skills needed to prepare your witness; depose medical experts; take remote depositions; handle difficult depositions; and more!
Using a NITA case file, the afternoon will be spent in four-person breakouts in which the attorneys will play the parts of defense attorney, plaintiffs’ attorney, and observer. At each stage of the depositions, senior coach-attorneys will critique performances and suggest approaches to use.

Judicial Advice for New Lawyers The Honorable Richard E. Moore (Ret.), formerly of the Charlottesville Circuit Court, and the Honorable Matthew Quatrara of the Albemarle General District Court joined VADA President Rachel Horvath on February 18 to provide practical guidance for both newly admitted and experienced practitioners. The judges addressed key considerations for counsel appearing before the court, including strategic use of dispositive motions, the proper scope of materials submitted in support of legal arguments, and other best practices for effective courtroom advocacy. If you were unable to attend the webinar, a recording is available on the Webinar Recordings page (member login required). Please note that viewing the recorded program does not qualify for CLE credit.

New Meeting Format This year we are implementing a revised format for the Spring Meeting. In lieu of traditional section breakout sessions, the program will feature plenary sessions developed and led by Section Chairs, addressing topics of broad relevance and practical value to the membership. Members of the Medical Malpractice Section will continue to have the option to attend dedicated breakout sessions on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning. Plenary programming will include a legislative update and an Appellate Court update, which will feature two judges from the Court of Appeals and additional sessions are being finalized. Dine-arounds will also be incorporated into this year’s Spring Meeting schedule. Registration will open in March. In the interim, attendees are encouraged to book their hotel rooms promptly, as the discounted room block will close on March 31 or upon reaching capacity, whichever occurs first.
